Reds Still Out For a Power Hitter
The Reds are still on the market for a power hitter. They could have had Jermaine Dye by dealing away Homer Bailey. What they wouldn't do is pick up Dye's $12 mil contract. This really pushes my buttons because a mid market team like the Reds can't pick up one solid veteran bat, while the Yanks, Cubs, and Red Sox spend literally over $1 billion on new contracts this offseason. Shouldn't the Yankees luxury tax alone be enough to let the Reds sign Dye? Come on.

WE just picked up Gomes. He has the potential for 30 HR's in GABP, and he was cheap.
ReplyDeleteI think.. that Gomes has the potential to hit .180 like he did last year.
ReplyDeleteLast year was not a typical year for him....Gomes is a .230-.240 hitter and has a career OBP of .329. He is a good fit for the Reds especially for the price. Gomes usually averages around 18 HRs.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying he is a bad fit. I just don't think he'll get enough playing time to put up 18 HRs unless someone gets injured.
